Sunday Service – August 14, 2016 – 10:30 am – “A Step Backward” with Guest Speaker Zen Monk Joriki Baker, Osho

Please join us for a special service entitled, “A Step Backward.”   We are pleased to welcome Guest Speaker Zen Monk Joriki Baker, Osho, visiting from the Blue Mountatin Zendo Koryuji, a Traditional Rinzai Zen Buddhist Temple in the Lehigh Valley.  The service will explore the parallel universal beliefs of Zen Buddhism and Unitarian Universalism.   Rev. Ryuun Joriki Baker, Osho will provide a basic understanding of Zen Buddhist beliefs, application and engagement, and how this practice manifests in the currents of our modern day society.

Ryuun Joriki Baker, Osho is an American Zen Buddhist Monk and founder of Blue Mountain Zendo. For over twenty five years, Joriki has formally studied and practiced  Japanese Nichren Soka Gakki,  Soto Zen, Vietnamese Thien (Vietnamese Zen), and Rinzai Zen. Joriki’s spiritual endeavors culminated on January 1 2001 when he was ordained by Thich Nguyen. Post ordination, Joriki would go on to study for several more years at Dai Bosatsu Zendo Kongo-ji, a Rinzai Monastery in upstate New York , and later was ordained within the Hakuin Lineage of  Rinzai Zen. On January 22 2014, Joriki was named an Osho (Dharma Teacher) by Kokan Genjo Marinello, Osho at a formal ceremony conducted at Blue Mountain Zendo.
